Tickets on sale for "Deceivers" at the 2010 L.A. Shorts Film Festival

Tickets are now on sale for the 2010 L.A. Shorts Film Festival and can be purchased on the L.A. Shorts Film Festival website. “Deceivers” will screen as part of Program #7 with seven other short films on Friday, July 23 at 5:30pm. The location of the screening is the Laemmle Sunset 5 Theaters in West Hollywood (8000 Sunset Blvd.). L.A. Shorts Film Festival is an Academy Award qualifying film festival. “Deceivers” is an Official Selection of the 2010 L.A. Shorts Film Festival. The 2010 L.A. Shorts Films Festival runs from July 22-30, 2010 and films screen at the Laemmle Sunset 5 Theaters in West Hollywood. “Deceivers” will screen on Friday, July 23rd at 5:30pm. Ascentia Films announces "myPhone"

As post-production continues on “Deceivers” Ascentia Films announces it will produce another short film intended for DVXuser’s BetrayalFest. The film will be titled “myPhone” and marks Ascentia Films’ first and long overdue foray into the comedy genre. Written by John Hermann, the film will be directed by Michael Halper, and the team will co-produce.

"The Last Tenant" to screen on February 21st

“The Last Tenant” will be screening at the Two Roads Theater & Gallery in Studio City on Sunday, February 21st at 3pm. This screening is part of the Valley Film Festival Best of VFF09 at which “The Last Tenant” received the Audience Award. They will also be showing two other short films from the 2009 Valley Film Festival.

Admission is free (donations accepted) and seating is very limited, so please RSVP by emailing info@valleyfilmfest.com. Additional information about the screening is available here.

Ascentia Films announces "Deceivers"

At the end of the month, Ascentia Films will be producing the short film “Deceivers” within its Satellite Films division. “Deceivers” is being produced as an entry for the DVXuser film festival BetrayalFest. This marks the second DVXuser festival entry for Ascentia Films; the first being “Sorry”, which won third place in SpyFest in 2007.

"The Last Tenant" wins Audience Award at the 2009 Valley Film Festival!

Tonight “The Last Tenant” received the Audience Award at the 2009 Valley Film Festival. The film screened in a block of other short films in front of a large audience at the El Portal Theatre in the NoHo Arts District in North Hollywood, California. Ascentia Films is extremely humbled and excited to be acknowledged and praised by its peers and the general audience. Stay tuned as Ascentia Films works on funding the feature film adaptation of “The Last Tenant”.

Updated version of "The Last Tenant"

Today work was completed on updating “The Last Tenant”. The color correction and grading on the film has been redone almost from scratch using the latest version of Apple’s Color 1.5 color grading software. A few other minor tweaks and inclusion of the revised Ascentia Films logo were also made. Be among the first to see the new version “The Last Tenant” at the 2009 Valley Film Festival on Sunday, October 4th at 5:00pm. More info here.

“The Last Tenant” is an Official Selection of the 2009 Valley Film Festival. This is the sixth Official Selection and festival screening for “The Last Tenant”, not including the Silver Ace Award it received at the 2009 Las Vegas International Film Festival.

Ascentia Films announces "Dead Souls"

About one year ago Ascentia Films produced the short horror film “The Last Tenant”, which has been an Official Selection at multiple film festivals across the country and received the Silver Ace Award at the 2009 Las Vegas Film Festival. Since its completion numerous people have suggested “The Last Tenant” would make a great feature film. Well, Michael Halper (Director, Writer, Producer) and John Hermann (Writer, Producer, Actor) thought about the possibilities for quite some time, and have decided to do just that. Thus, Ascentia Films officially announces it will produce the feature film adaptation to tentatively be titled “Dead Souls”.

Many exciting things are planned for production, promotion, and marketing of the feature film. Stay tuned for more updates on the progress of getting “Dead Souls” into production and beyond.
